Super #5N DeYoung Cutthroat Custom

In 2010, Abel created this Limited Edition design based on Derek DeYoung's popular artwork. We are proud to have one of the DeYoung Series Limited Edition Reels available now in our shop.

This Super 5N Large Arbor reel is based on a cutthroat trout and is appropriately named Yellowstone. Derek DeYoung is a Montana-based fish and wildlife artist. The 30-year old artist graduated with a BFA in Illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He now works almost exclusively in fish and wildlife abstractions from his studio not far from Montana's storied rivers.

Abel Reels are precision machined from cold-finished 6061-T651 aerospace grade aluminium to tolerances of ten-thousands of an inch. Fly reel artwork representation of the DeYoung reels are individually hand painted and anodized at the Abel precision machine shop.

• Cork Drag System is made entirely in Abel's factory. Abel uses a superior high grade Portuguese cork with a little neat's-foot oil on it
