After the huge success achieved with the latest Super #3N, #4N, #5N, and #6N trout reels, Abel customers asked for a lighter reel for 7 - 9 weight rods that picks up line even faster than the current Abel models. Abel listened, and engineered the answer with the lightest, yet still fastest line retrieval 7 - 9 weight reel they have ever produced.

The new changes included narrowing the spool width, increasing the hub arbor and spool diameter, and designing a finished reel that is about 1.5 ounces lighter than the previously machined Super 8 reel. Abel also incorporated a new outgoing click feature that is similar to their proven Quick Change design, and redesigned the drag knob for even better fingertip control when it gets wet, or cold.
