After reading some mixed feedback on some of the on line sea
fishing forums, i was a little unsure what to expect with my
G-Mag 7s. I chose the 7s over the 6s purely on the basis
that most of my fishing is medium range over mixed and rough
ground (bristol channel). Having previously been caught out
with the very poor chinese 7000i abus, i was hoping that the
Greys reels would turn out a little better. Fact is they
have turned out to be absolutely spot on for my shore
fishing. The mag control is easy to operate and it works.
When i started casting with the mags, i worked my way up
slowly to avoid over runs and the inevitable birdy. I have
birdied them a couple of times when confidence has been
higher than ability; but after nearly a years use, more
often than not especially in daylight hours, the mags are off
and the reel is flying. The 7s wont out do the 6s for
distance, but they are perfect for my fishing. The 6s are on
my wanted list. The reels have taken some abuse on rocky
marks, cleaned, but not yet serviced and i have got used to
the composite end plates. They have got lots of grunt, are
well made and i am well and truly happy with them.
